Introduction about this module

Whenever you do research you need to be aware of how your research may affect others. These others could be persons that participate in your research, the field you are researching or the university or school providing you the context for your studies.​

Because of this universities, including Utrecht University, require that you follow ethical guidelines and, in many cases, have your study approved by the Ethics Review Board.​

This module will guide you through the steps needed for an ethical review. Along the way we will explain the considerations behind each of the steps. If you follow the module to the end, you will have built a file that can be used for a first step in getting approval from the Ethical Review Board.​

If this file does not reveal issues that require a more detailed review, the ERB can decide to approve your project based on this file, in other cases you might need to provide some more detailed information.​
